As spring rolls on, it's time for the like-clockwork release of the faction vs. faction Duel Decks product that previews this year's fall large set. With all the rumors surrounding the "Khans of Tarkir" name that may well be announced at PAX East, it's only fitting that the deck product be central Asian themed and have an idea of large pitched battles on an open field. Such is the case with the latest mothership announcement for Duel Decks: Speed vs. Cunning.

Racing across the blazing steppe, the wave of attackers crests the barren hills. Nothing can stop their reckless advance. These warriors live fast, fight hard, and strike terror into the hearts of those in their path. The scarred countryside seems abandoned. Then, suddenly, hidden fighters spring from ambush. The overconfident enemy recoils in surprise, outflanked and outsmarted. Who will prevail, the swift or the sly?

The phrase "blazing steppe" immediately suggests Mongols; as do the swift roving horsemen - their hidden opponents put one more in mind of Sun Tzu's Art of War and imperial Chinese culture.

The product will be out September 5 for .99 in English and Japanese; Chris Millar and Sam Stoddard developed.

The expansion symbol is essentially a prying eye surrounded by wings, as always a figurative representation of the two abstract factions.
