Alabama native Sarah Simmons still has 'The Voice,' releases 2 singles on iTunes (video)

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- When left the national spotlight in June, she was fresh off and . Now, just a few months later, the Birmingham native is a California girl with two new singles to her credit.

If you haven't been following the pop-rock singer on and , it might seem as if Simmons has been idle. True, she's keeping a lower profile, without the benefit of reality TV. But Simmons has been working on her career and participating in various charity events.
In August, for example, Simmons sang the national anthem at a for , a nonprofit that supports military veterans. She also made an appearance at a September auction for , helping to raise money to combat a rare skin disorder. (Eddie Vedder and Catherine Keener were among the celebrity supporters.)
