It was the game-winning, surprising touchdown play for Auburn Saturday in the Tigers' home game against Georgia, and it is the subject of review today by AL.com's Randy Kennedy and Mike Herndon in our latest "SECond Look" video report about football in the SEC.
Late in the fourth quarter, after Georgia fought from far behind to gain the lead, Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall threw a long pass. Down field, Georgia safeties Tray Matthews and Josh Harvey-Clemons were close when Harvey-Clemons deflected the ball into the hands of Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis, who ran the ball the short distance for the winning touchdown.
The final score was 43-38 -- setting up an important Iron Bowl game between Auburn and rival Alabama as each teams continues its quest for a place at another BCS championship game.
"Have you ever seen a bigger play than that in Auburn history? It has got to rank up there with the most dramatic," Kennedy says in our video.
He and Herndon go on to talk about some of the most dramatic plays in Auburn history. They also discuss what this play could mean to the team during the balance of the current season.
Kennedy observes, "This Auburn team, it just looks like they feel like they're going to make plays regardless of what the obstacles are."
Herndon says, "When you see a play like that ... the term destiny starts coming up. I think the players start to think that they can't lose. If something like that happens it's got to be a huge boost to your self confidence."
Alabama and Auburn meet at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at Auburn, when the Iron Bowl will be televised on CBS.
