Four-star Ole Miss commitment C.J. Hampton (4) helps Meridian to a 49-46 playoff win over Gulfport.
Four-star Meridian (Miss.) safety C.J. Hampton said Friday that he enjoyed his visit to Alabama last Saturday, but he's still committed to Ole Miss.
"It's still pretty strong," he said of his commitment. "I'm still committed to the University of Mississippi. I'm just going through the recruiting process the right way."
Speculation has been strong that Hampton could switch his commitment to Alabama, which would like to add another safety to its 2014 class. Hampton said he met with Tide head coach Nick Saban before and after Alabama's 38-17 win over LSU, and also met with defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and each of the Tide's defensive assistants.
"I like Alabama a lot," he said. "There's a lot of love down there. They care about me and my family a lot. I enjoy everything about it."
On Friday night, Hampton helped Meridian win a wild playoff game over Gulfport, as the Wildcats drove 71 yards in the final minutes for the game-winning score.
This Saturday, Hampton is heading to Tallahassee to watch Florida State play Syracuse. FSU defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt was on the staff at West Alabama in 1999 when Hampton's father, Calvin, played there.
"Everything is going to be a family decision. I won't make a decision on my own," Hampton said. "They just want me to be happy wherever I go. They want me to go somewhere I'll get a lot of playing time and I'll be able to represent Meridian well."
